Editor's Midnight
Musings
It's about time for another
issue. I'm determined to get this zine out to you if it takes me all night.
So I hope you like it. I haven't forgotten about you all, but summer has
just flown by!...
...Watching the sea lions,
escaping the heat in the wind swept dunes, hummingbirds flitting from flower
to flower, long walks with the dogs on cool summer eves... It's been a
great summer. And now roses are putting on one last glorious display before
the fall, and just a few golden leaves color the ground. Life is good!
...

Thank you very much. That's Ziggy from the next story, below. He's just
too cute to put below the fold.)
Readers Write
Felice sent a picture of
Ziggy (above). A Beverly Hills Pet Store was going to put him down because
he was 'too big!' He weighed in at 8 pounds after they kept him in a small
cage for 8 months starving him to keep him small. They couldn't get the
$800 they wanted for him that their clientele would pay for "eensy, beensy"
Yorkies.
Luckily Felice found him
and nursed him back to health. Now he's a happy, healthy 15 pounds
and the joy of her life.

Environmental
Tourism to Help Atlantic Sea Turtles
Environmentalists in Ghana
have launched a campaign to set up six sanctuaries for the giant sea turtle
along the Atlantic coast of the West African country.
Currently at least 2/3 of
the nesting 400 lb. sea turtles are slaughtered. "If we make their nesting
grounds more friendly for the turtle, they could become eco-tourist attractions,"
an official of the Ghana Wildlife Society told Reuters. Females often swim
thousands of km to return to their native beach and lay their eggs.

If you can...
From Pyskie (via Mudhoney):
If you can start the day
without caffeine,
If you can get going without
pep pills,
If you can always be cheerful,
ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining
and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same
food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when
your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can overlook it when
those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of yours, something
goes wrong,
If you can take criticism
and blame without resentment,
If you can ignore a friend's
limited education and never correct him,
If you can resist treating
a rich friend better than a poor friend,
If you can face the world
without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension
without medical help,
If you can relax without
liquor,
If you can sleep without
the aid of drugs,
If you can say honestly
that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, religion
or politics,
Then, my friend,... you are
almost as good as your dog! |

The body board with window lets you see the action under the sea while
floating languidly on the surface. Don't forget to order a swimsuit for
